「兩周一聚」: 傳統 & 傳統智慧 / Convention & Conventional Wisdom

前言﹕「兩週一聚」的活動是網友 michelle 發起。每月十五日﹑三十日﹐一班住在世界不同角落的香港人都會一起寫同一個題目。今次的題目是「我博十六點」，是由 加燦 出的題。

今次的題目比較特別，或者說，是規則比較特別，先說明一下。

題目為《傳統 & 傳統智慧 / Convention & Conventional Wisdom》，不單是題目中英對照，筆者也要分別用中文和英文各寫一篇文章，而且內容是不同的。

好吧，那就先來英文的....

Change in Conventional Wisdom


清明時節雨紛紛，路上行人欲斷魂。
借問酒家何處有，牧童遙指杏花村。

--- 《Song of Solar Terms》

I cannot find a good translation to the poem and song, so I'd rather keep them in chinese.

Solar Terms occur in chinese calender, describing the solar activity within a year. Those 24 terms divide the ecliptic, the path that the Sun goes through in a year, into 24 equal segments. The names of the Terms also reflect seasonal change and weather phenomena, which is essential to agricultural activities.

Probably we will need some new "terms" in the future.

Not only because of the change in culture, but also the change in the Earth climate. The Earth is getting warmer, the sea level keep rising, extreme and severe weather phenomena occur more frequently. In the future we may have no minor heat (小暑), no start of winter (立冬), more major heat (大暑), or more major snow (大雪). Thus we may need to change our habit, and have a new set of convention of human activity.

So, if we are not wise enough, we will create new conventional wisdom. That's brilliant.

傳統智慧....傳統還是智慧？


稱得上做「傳統智慧」，首先必定經過時間的考驗，日子久了，才算得上「傳統」。

那「智慧」呢？

很簡單，就是請各位動動腦筋。

中國人有慎終追遠的美德，對先人的教誨大多銘記於心。不過中國人有時候也有盲從的毛病，缺少探究和創新的精神，對祖先的說話不求甚解便去遵從。

當然先人說的大多錯不了，那是他們累積的經驗，用智慧思考的成果，複雜如上文所說的二十四節氣，通俗如婆婆教的燒菜竅門。只是日換星移，新知識新事物不斷出現，世界也每天在變，傳統也需要與時並進罷。

動腦筋不單是要創新，也是要理解。智慧背後必有道理，盲目遵循教條而不明事理的人是笨蛋。傳統假如不懂意義的話便已失去它的價值。

話說回頭，聽取前人道理本身沒有錯。道理過期了，碰了釘，不能說是前人的錯，那是對前人的大不敬。錯的是自己不懂變通，不懂思考。

這是對我工作單位某不肯認錯的上司說的。
